Verdure Sciences was notified in May that Longvida’s Retinal Amyloid Pathology and Proof-of-Concept Imaging Clinical Trial with Longvida Optimized Curcumin was one of three finalists for the NutraIngredients-USA Awards in the Nutrition Research Project Award category. This category rewards the most innovative and impactful nutrition research projects pushing the boundaries of nutritional science. We are thrilled to announce that on June 3rd, at the NutraIngredients-USA award presentation in New Orleans, Verdure Sciences was presented with the research of the year award for this retinal imaging study.
When presented, Dr. Stephen Daniells, PhD, Editor-in-Chief of NutraIngredients-USA explained on the behalf of the judges that the “entry really stood out to the judges for its combination of a nutrition intervention (curcumin) with industry-changing technology to potentially provide a low-cost, non-invasive technique to pre-screen at-risk populations using high-resolution imaging of a person’s amyloid-beta burden.” He went on to explain that the panel of judges appreciated that “the research was performed by an impressive team of academic institutions and industry, supported by peer-reviewed publications” with “potentially game changing [implications].”
Dr. Daniells, himself also, commented: “Our judges were really impressed by the huge implications of this work, performed by a notable team of researchers from NeuroVision Imaging, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCLA, and Verdure Sciences. Congratulations to all involved – this is significant research!”
Everyone at Verdure Sciences is extremely grateful to see Longvida as the curcumin of choice in this immense study with groundbreaking implications for the long-term. “It is very exciting to see Longvida’s ability to cross the blood brain and blood retinal barriers used in tangible applications with the potential to impact so many lives,” said Kristen Marshall, Marketing Coordinator at Verdure Sciences. Verdure is honored to have been chosen as the recipient of the Nutrition Research Project Award from NutraIngredients-USA and for the recognition from the expert panel of judges for choosing Longvida as the recipient such a highly-regarded award. “To be recognized in this category with the amazing research being done on the cross-functionally of dietary supplements, functional foods and beverages, and ingredients is an honor in its own right. To be chosen as an example of excellence in research is even more extraordinary,” said Founder and CEO of Verdure Sciences, Ajay Patel.
Verdure extends recognition and thanks to the exceptional teams at NeuroVision Imaging, UCLA, and Cedars Sinai, in particular Dr. Keith Black, Head of Neurosurgery at Cedars Sinai, for their astounding efforts, due diligence, and wealth of insight into such a profound application. It is a testament to the immense amount of time and effort involved in such an exemplary endeavor to be acknowledged with this award.
